Privacy choices
Every control below lives on your iPhone or in your Apple Account. Here is how to reach each one.
Revoke Microphone, Speech Recognition, Location, or Reminders access
- Open iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → the relevant category → turn Vokyl off.
- Or open iOS Settings → Vokyl to see every permission Vokyl has requested in one place.
Declining an optional permission disables only the feature that needs it.
Turn recording location off
- Open Vokyl Settings → turn recording location off.
Location is off by default. When it is on and permitted, Vokyl stores one neighborhood-level coordinate with the conversation; it is not reverse-geocoded and is never sent to SplendidBit.
Turn iCloud Backup off or back on
- Open Vokyl Settings → iCloud Backup.
It is on by default. It mirrors recordings, transcripts, tasks, tags, remembered voices, and selected settings into Vokyl's private container in your iCloud Drive, which SplendidBit cannot access. Todoist credentials are excluded.
Delete a conversation
- Delete it in Vokyl.
This removes its audio and derived content from the iPhone.
Choose how long audio is kept
- Open Vokyl Settings → audio retention.
- Choose keep forever, or automatically remove audio after 7, 30, or 90 days.
Transcripts and structured conversation content remain until you delete the conversation.
Forget a remembered voice
- Open Vokyl Settings → remembered voices → forget the individual voice.
Disconnect Todoist
- Open Vokyl Settings → disconnect Todoist.
This removes its token from this device. Tasks already sent to Todoist remain in Todoist until you delete them there.
Remove tasks already delivered to Reminders or Todoist
- Delete them in Apple Reminders or in Todoist.
Information previously sent to a destination is controlled by that destination and must be deleted there.
Manage or delete Vokyl data stored in your iCloud account
- Use your Apple Account storage controls to remove Vokyl's stored iCloud data.
Manage or cancel your subscription
- Open Apple Account subscription settings: apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions.
- Apple's instructions: support.apple.com/en-us/HT202039.
How deleting interacts with backup
Deleting a conversation while iCloud Backup is enabled removes that item from the next successful mirror. If backup was disabled before you deleted, an older iCloud copy may remain until you re-enable backup and let it sync, or until you remove Vokyl's iCloud data through your Apple Account storage controls.
